Carnival Cruise Lines takes break from social media | News – Home

Interesting news, regarding Carnival Cruises backing off their social media to “take this seriously”, I wouldn’t say that I disagree with them, in this time of crisis. This was a devastating event for more than a few people.

However, I would also look at this as a point where a company could use the social communication platforms as a news and most importantly, a customer relations tool, during this crisis.

We would love to hear your opinions on this, what are your thoughts?

  1. Its interesting to see that so many people “liked” the post. When it comes to death and tragedy people respond differently, so I understand the personal debate on this issue. However, as a business, social media can be a great way to manage your brand reputation since at the end of the day, people just want them to listen.

    • I agree with both of your points, as for us, we would take the “social fun and marketing” aspect out and continue using these social tools as an important form of communication, not only for public relations but also for updated news, family members, contacts, customer relations, etc. Interesting to see this move. Both sides of the question have solid points for use and non-use of the platforms.
